board draws upon a wide range of expertise including rangeland
ecology, cultural and medical anthropology, international development,
conservation management, and area studies. A registered 501 (c)
(3) non-profit corporation, DROKPA is administered by a volunteer
executive committee and advisory council.

Judith
Brown, Ph.D. is a management consultant who has worked in South
Asia and the Himalaya for more than 30 years. Dr. Brown has served as
a strategic planner for the World Wildlife Fund, as well as local environmental
conservation organizations in Bhutan, Ladakh, and Nepal. Contact Judith.
Leona
Mason, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has a Master's in Public Health (Johns
Hopkins). She has been an educator and student of Tibetan language and culture for years;
most recently she spent six months in Dharamsala, India, working on tuberculosis
prevention. She participated in the University of Wisconsin Year in Nepal Program and has
extensive experience in Dolpa District, Nepal. Contact Leona.
Ken
Bauer, Ph.D. is a political ecologist and development consultant specializing in rangelands and pastoralists. He has lived and worked in Asia for 15 years. He was a consultant for the World Wildlife Fund Nepal Program and studied traditional pastoral management in Dolpo, Nepal, as a Fulbright scholar. He has also led treks throughout the Himalaya and Tibet. His book on traditional pastoral management in Dolpo - High Frontiers: Dolpo and the Changing World of Himalayan Pastoralists was published by Columbia University Press (2004). He is an assistant professor in the department of Community Development and Applied Economics at the University of Vermont. Mr. Bauer is co-founder and president of DROKPA. Contact Ken.
Sienna
Craig, Ph.D., is a medical anthropologist specializing in Tibetan medicine. She
has lived and worked in the Himalayas and Tibet since 1993, as an anthropologist,
development consultant, and freelance writer. Her writing reaches both popular and
academic audiences. Her book Horses Like Lightning, was published by Wisdom Publications.
She is an assistant professor in the department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College. Ms.
Craig is co-founder and chief executive officer of DROKPA. Contact Sienna.
Peter Moran, Ph.D., is the executive director of the United States Educational Foundation
in Nepal (USEF Nepal), which administers educational exchange activities between Nepal
and the United States. Its principal programs are the Fulbright scholarships, the Hubert
Humphrey Fellowships, and the East-West Center scholarships. Dr. Moran is the author of
Buddhism Observed: Travelers, Exiles and Tibetan Dharma in Kathmandu, which was published
by Routledge Curzon. Contact Peter.
Peter Oyloe has a Master's in Public Health. Mr. Oyloe works for the Academy for
Educational Development and is the resident advisor for the Marketing and Communications
Project for AIDS in Nepal. Prior to joining AED, Mr. Oyloe was Manager for International
Health Policy for Merck Vaccines, a division of Merck and Co. Mr. Oyloe has significant
experience in organizing public-private partnerships, influencing public health policy,
